August 18th, 2017 – Mount Olive Lutheran Church
A few weeks ago, we were asked to do chair covers for a wedding at our home church. Normally the only events that we do there are: A Night to Shine (prom for adults with special needs) and the Youth In Action dinner (fundraising event). When we were contacted, it was exciting.
The main worship center at Mount Olive is under minor construction and has been the entire month of August. Due to some scheduling conflicts, one wedding was asked to move upstairs to the old chapel. For those of you who haven’t been into that room before, it holds blue chairs. BLUE CHAIRS. Most couples do not want bright blue chairs for their wedding. That’s where we came in.
Our covers would not fit over the blue chairs they had in the chapel, and we needed a solution. I asked the pastor if we could move the standard banquet chairs into the chapel to replace the blue chairs, just for the weekend. He accepted the idea and the room was set to hold 150+ people.
With the wedding being on a Friday, decorating time was slim. There was a service in the chapel on Thursday evening and we were not able to start until it was over. Once 7:30 PM hit, the work began.
The couple’s color scheme consisted of yellow, gold and white. After talking about options, we decided to go with white chair covers, grey sashes for the reserved seating and yellow sashes for the rest.
The end result was beautiful:
