Tuxes and Tulle

  /  Uncategorized   /  Where It All Started…

The event planning world is a stressful one. Always running around managing a hundred things at once. There always seems like there’s time to get things done, then you end up working right up to the last possible minute. Food? Who needs food until you’re done with an 8+ hour event, right? It’s the thrill, the adrenaline and the most of all, the look of the faces of the clients when they see the finished product.

When I was a junior in High School, I was on the prom committee. There were about five of us girls and a few guys. However, when it came to the details, I was one of the ones who always knew what needed to be done and how I thought we should go about it. It was going to be a great event, not doubt about it. When it came to the week of prom, we started getting in materials after materials for the dance. I organized them and even created a chart of what needed to be done on the day before. We had hired an actual event planner to help us with the set-up, but looking back, it wasn’t needed… We had an awesome crew. That’s where it started.

It was the glow sticks being broke into mason jars to create centerpieces. The tables being decorated according to the color scheme. The “Red Carpet” being laid out. It was the scaffolding holding us up while we draped the fabric across the dance floor. The christmas lights being hung around the border. Every. Single. Detail. I feel in love that week. With the thrill and the overall planning process. However, there was another event.

My senior year, I was one of three people that planned our Senior Ball. I helped book the DJ, decide what food to buy and serve, book the venue, create the tickets, etc. The day before, I spent at the venue setting up and I truly loved it. From the tables, chairs, bar area, linens, flowers, lighting, DJ, and much more. It was something that I loved to do, and I wanted to keep doing it.

After senior year, I attended a four-year college, where I shortly realized that I needed to change my career path. I decided to attend a technical school and to this day, I don’t regret it. I went from being a Criminal Justice Major, to becoming a certified Event Planner. I get to be creative, I get to talk to people and I get to have fun.

Shortly after, I opened this business, realizing that it was my dream to own and operate my own event planning company. Though it’s been an interesting few months, I wouldn’t change it for the world. Event Planning is what I’m good at. It’s my passion and I love to be involved with special events of all kinds.

If you’re reading this and need help with your special day, I’d be more than honored to help you make your dreams a reality! 🙂 Send me a message or email today!

As always, Happy Planning!!
